Current News update: 2008-08-27 Congratulations to Champion students on achieving an Excellent ranking on their 2007/2008 State Achievement Tests. Our students earned Champion Schools its 6th year of Excellent ranking. Average Yearly Progress with our special needs students was also Achieved by Champion students. Students in grades 5-8 made "more than 1 year of progress" as measured by the new value added rating on the State Report Card. Champion students passed all 30 indicators on the State Report Card. Champion Schools is proud to be a member of the newly formed Champion Pride Council. The Champion Pride Council is a partnership among Champion organizations and several businesses. The Council is designed to increase the benefits realized by Champion residents through community service projects. Organizations represented on the Council are: Champion Christian Church, Otterbein United Methodist Church, Champion Church of the Nazarene, Rotary Club of Champion, Kiwanis Club of Champion, Champion Roller Rink, Champion Local Schools and Champion Township Trustees. The council has 2 community service projects planned for 2008: OCTOBER: Cold weather clothing drive "Warm Heads, Hands & Hearts" & NOVEMBER: Food Drive. Watch for sites throughout Champion Township for both of these community collection drives.
Champion Schools' Senior Citizen Advisory Council will be sponsoring its 2nd annual Senior Citizen's Appreciation Luncheon and Awards Program on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Champion Middle School. Information about luncheon reservations and how to nominate a Champion resident for the Senior Citizen of the Year Award will be distributed through the community toward the end of September. Information will also be available on this web site.
The school district will have a Renewal levy on the ballot November 4. Since it is a renewal levy, the district will receive no increase in money with the renewal. As a renewal levy, it will not be a tax increase. The district would continue to receive the same amount of the money generated by the levy when it was first passed in 1994.
