Champion Middle School held their first annual Walk-a-thon and Color Run on Saturday, April 29th at the Champion High School track. Approximately 100 students, parents, and teachers participated in this fun wellness activity. Students were encouraged to set distance goals for themselves that would promote a healthy lifestyle. After about 1 hour, participants continued adding to their mileage by taking part in the color portion of the day. Participants ran under, around, and through colored powder and water to achieve tie dyed clothes and hair. Money raised from the event will be used for field trips, assemblies, and student activities. A special thanks goes to all of the parent helpers, teachers, and local businesses that made this event a success. Local businesses that donated prizes included the Champion Arby’s, Dunkin Donuts, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut. Donations also were received from Blazzle Me in Cortland, Karma Korn Poppery in Girard, as well as Firebirds eatery, Extreme Air, and the Austintown Bounce.
