Outdoor Learning Area at the New Champion School K-12 Complex Becoming a Reality

Students from the Champion Local School District, in cooperation with the Champion community, have been working hard to establish a new "Outdoor Learning" area for the new Champion K-12 school district campus. This summer students and community members have been preparing and planting 5000 native wetland flowering plants in the recently created storm water basin.  In addition, two new Chimney Swift towers will be placed in the area to replace lost habitat from demolition of the old elementary school.  A large Purple Martin condo along with blue bird, swallow, and bat nest boxes have also been built and are being placed in the area. When completed this "Outdoor Learning" area will become a model in the state for outdoor environmental education highlighting cooperation between the school district and the community.
