Champion Middle School Science Club students and their families recently participated in one of their annual hikes at the James H Barrow field station at Hiram College. Led by Professor Matt Sorrick, students hiked a few of the trails on the 221 acre property. As a premier location for Hiram College students to complete research, the facility also includes a nature center and rehabilitation facility for injured wildlife. In conjunction with the Akron Zoo, Hiram College also has an onsite facility that houses an endangered duck species. If you are interested in hiking, Mr. Sorrick mentioned that the nature center and trails are open to the public. The hiking trails encompass 5 miles.
