Covid-19 Update: September 9th

September 9, 2021

Dear Champion Parents, Staff, and Community Members:

Champion Local School District received notification of one positive student case of Covid-19 at the elementary school. Contact tracing is being done, and close contacts are being notified. Universal masking has given us the opportunity to reduce the number of students that are identified as close contacts to the positive case.

As cases in our county and our local community continue to rise, we are making changes in our schools to create more social distance while students are eating. These changes are happening as we speak. Some students will now be assigned spaces other than the cafeteria to eat their lunch, which may be a classroom or common space in the building. This is being done to increase the spacing between students while they have their masks off to limit exposure in the event of a positive case.

Please remember to keep your children home if they are not feeling well or have a temperature above 100.0 degrees.

We will continue to update our community when staff or students test positive.

John J. Grabowski, Superintendent
