Champion Middle School is proud to recognize 8th grade student Jayden Burchfield for his outstanding performance at the OHSAA Junior High State Track Meet held on Saturday, May 17. Jayden placed 10th in the state of Ohio in the shot put, throwing an impressive 46 feet, 3 inches.

Jayden qualified for the state meet after an impressive showing at the Trumbull County Track Meet on May 10, where he placed first and set a new meet record with a throw of 46 feet, 10 inches. His performance placed him among the top 24 shot put athletes in Ohio, across all divisions—an outstanding accomplishment for a middle school athlete.

Coach Ryan Kistler, who leads Champion’s throwing program, praised Jayden’s dedication and work ethic: “Jayden's record-breaking season is a direct result of his hard work and dedication both in the weight room and in the throwing circle,” said Coach Kistler. “Breaking the Trumbull County middle school shot put record and finishing top ten in the state of Ohio are tremendous accomplishments. Jayden has a very bright future ahead of him.”

Jayden is believed to be the first Champion Middle School student to qualify for the OHSAA Junior High State Track Meet.

Congratulations, Jayden, on an incredible season and for proudly representing Champion at the state level!
