Congratulations to first grader Owen McCluskey for earning 1st place in the Trumbull County Bar Association’s annual Law Day essay contest!
Each year, students across Trumbull County are invited to participate in the essay and art contest, which encourages young learners to reflect on important civic themes. This year’s topic was "The Constitution’s Promise: Out of Many, One."
Owen’s essay stood out among many entries from across the county. When asked about his big win, Owen humbly shared he’s “not exactly sure what [he] wrote about”—but he’s definitely excited to be named a winner! Owen and his fellow contest winners were recognized during a special Law Day luncheon on May 1 at DeLucia's. In addition to a cash prize, he also wins a pizza party for his class!
Notably, this is the second year in a row that a student from Mrs. Basalyga’s first grade class has taken the top spot in the contest—a remarkable achievement!
