On Wednesday, April 16, 2025, in the gymnasium at Champion High School, senior Shane Hixson signed his dreams into reality. “I just want to play baseball and make the community proud,” he says. That afternoon, surrounded by family, friends, coaches, and school administrators, Hixson officially signed his letter of intent to play baseball for the Malone University Pioneers. “I am really excited for this opportunity,” Hixson shared after signing. “I’m a little nervous too, but I’m ready for the challenge ahead!”
The recruitment process, he admitted, was long and uncertain, but a late call from Malone University changed everything. “Don’t give up too quickly,” Hixson advises younger athletes. “Trust the process—something big could be just around the corner.”
A varsity catcher for Champion, the three-year letter winner, and 1st Team All MVAC honoree says he’s ready to fill any role needed at Malone. He also plans to study ministry, with hopes of one day becoming a pastor.
Congratulations, Shane! Champion is proud of you.
