Champion Local Schools values the diverse backgrounds of our students and families. We are committed to honoring cultural and religious traditions and ensuring all students feel respected and supported as they observe meaningful practices and holidays.
In accordance with Board Policy 5200, students are permitted up to three Religious Expression Days per school year. These days may be used to observe religious holidays or participate in other faith-based activities.
Students approved for a Religious Expression Day will:

Not be penalized academically

Be provided reasonable accommodations for any missed classwork, tests, or participation-based activities

Families are encouraged to communicate early with their school office when planning to use Religious Expression Days
đź“„ How to Request a Religious Expression Day
To request approval, parents or guardians must submit a written request to the building principal either:

Within 14 days of the start of the school year, or
-
Within 14 days of a student’s enrollment, whichever applies
The request should specify the religious holiday(s) or date(s) being requested.
Once approved:

The principal will notify each teacher, who will then schedule alternative dates for any missed assignments or assessments

Students may still participate in extracurricular activities, including interscholastic sports, on the day of their absence
