Planning Starts for Farewell Ceremony for Champion Elementary and Middle Schools

A “Farewell Ceremony Planning Committee” has been formed and any interested resident is invited to attend the meeting being held Monday, September 11, 2017 in the Central Elementary School Gymnasium from 4:30 P.M. to 5:45 P.M.  to share ideas for planning the Farewell Ceremony sometime in October,  2018. Ideas to be discussed include scheduling building tours before demolition, historical items sensitive to preservation, ideas to include in planning a Farewell Ceremony such as speakers, etc.   Please join us on Monday, September 11, at the Central Gymnasium at 4:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M.

As part of the construction of the new PK-8 school building set to open in August 2018 is the demolition of what will be the two former school buildings, 100-year-old Central Elementary and 40-year-old middle school.  The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission which is funding 56% of the $31 million new school construction requires vacated buildings to be demolished.  Demolition of the two buildings will take place in October 2018.
